Stockbridge Bowl Residence

We were asked to first renovate a house on a site overlooking the Stockbridge Bowl in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, but subsequently asked to design a house from the ground up.  Design was based primarily on the owner’s program and the site lovely views but was also informed by the town’s restrictive zoning requirements and the limitations imposed on development given the house’s  proximity to the water.   In addition, the steep slope of the site toward the water and the abundant white pines offered an extraordinary opportunity for a contemporary house which took advantage of all of it.

This project has been taken through schematic design to date.
