Hattem Residence

We were approached in 2019 by the owners to help restore the dynamic glory of this beautiful ‘mid-century modern’ residence located in the Berkshires of Massachusetts.  The owners wanted both some renovation work throughout the house and the addition of a spacious master bedroom suite to enhance the livability of the house.  With the addition of grandchildren to the family, this house in the woods would need more room than originally conceived in the 1950’s and one subsequent modification added a few years later.  Most importantly, they wanted the dynamic, horizontal essence of the house to be enhanced with architectural changes that would enhance the original design, while adding some architectural drama to the mix with the soaring cantilevered roof — and floor area — of the addition.

Work was halted by the Covid-19 pandemic but resumed in 2020, and work is now complete.
